Hi, I’m Andrea, a Mum of four children (2 girls and 2 boys), well, I think they’d prefer to be called young people now as they’re all over 18! Hardly my little bambinos any more!
I love walking my 2 whippets, Louis and Lola, along the beach and through local woodland. I also adore mountains and lakes so if you can’t find me on a beach or in the woods, look up, I may be on the top of a mountain waving at you!
I worked in primary schools for over 20 years as both a classroom teacher and 1:1 support teacher. I worked in Further and Higher Education within Inclusive Learning Departments supporting students with their individual physical and emotional needs.
Around the time of Covid 19, I experienced extreme anxiety, stress, grief and overwhelm relating to big life events: the sudden end of my 24 year marriage and the death of both my parents.
These events that prompted me to leave the education system and re-train as a mental health and emotional well-being practitioner working for Barnardos and the NHS.
During this time I embarked on a bit of a self-discovery journey of my own too. I learned healthy coping skills, supportive strategies and useful techniques that helped me to personally process the big life changes I was living through as well as support my clients during their sessions with their challenges.
My mission now is to share not only proven therapeutic tools and techniques but also the lessons I’ve learned along the way from my lived experiences so that when life events happen you can surf the waves without being swept away by them, as I nearly was.
Sometimes the people we love go. We don't want them to but we have no choice in the matter. The grief and loss we experience when these kind of life changes happen can result in us feeling very lost, alone, and anxious about what else life has in store for us.
It's normal to feel all of this when we're grieving a loss of any kind. It can feel overwhelming. I certainly felt this following the death of my parents, and the sudden end of my marriage I thought was built to last.
I sought grief therapy and counselling during these times and now I've trained as a Life After Loss coach to support you who are going through similar loss. I know it helped me navigate my way to a calmer, more settled place and I can help you too.
In my sessions you will be met with kindness and compassion. I offer clear, gentle guidance that helps you feel calmer and more able to recognise anxious thoughts and feelings as they arise and be compassionate with yourself as you navigate them.
Together we build a toolkit of proven anxiety and emotional-regulation tips, techniques and strategies you can use in your every day life.
When a child struggles, the whole family feels it. I empower parents so they know exactly what to do and say when supporting their anxious, worried child. We use evidence-based, easy techniques to create calmer routines, stronger communication and more harmony at home.
Clients who I have worked with me say they feel empowered and better equipped to cope with their personal challenges. They feel hopeful for the future having taken small supportive steps with me in our sessions.
Whatever you are dealing with, whatever is weighing heavy, I offer a range of support and guidance to meet your needs - group programmes, 1:1 sessions (online or in person) and digital downloadable resources.
